Abstract:
Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma (BSCC) of the cervix is an uncommon tumor of the female genital tract. We describe a rare case of basaloid squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix in a 62-year old woman with a history of subtotal hysterectomy. A BCSS of the uterine cervix, International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage Ib1, was diagnosed by physical and histological examination. She underwent concurrent chemoradiotherapy. No recurrence was observed during 24 months follow-up. Although this tumor has an aggressive behavior but not substantiated that the tumor has a poorer medical outcome as compared to conventional SCC of the cervix.
