Abstract:
Purpose: To report a rare association of retinopathy of prematurity and dandy-Walker syndrome.Methods: A 2 month-old male newborn was referred to be evaluated for ROP. He had a history of prematurity and was a known case of Dandy-Walker syndrome. Results: the external eye examinations were normal. In funduscopy there was bilaterally zone 2, stage 3 ROP, with plus disease, for which 0.625 mg intravitreal bevacizumab was injected. Follow up visits showed gradual improvement of retinal vascularization. 3 months later there was no more ROP. No complications were found. Conclusion: Premature newborns with craniofacial anomalies should do nevere neglected for ROP, which could worsen the final scenario by delayed management.
