Abstract:

In this paper we used photonic crystal ringresonator structure for designing a 2-channel optical wavelengthdemultiplexer. It has been shown that by using photonic crystalsring resonators wavelength separation is possible. In order toselect 2 channels with different central wavelengths we employed2 resonant rings with different structural parameters. Theplatform used for designing the proposed demultiplxer is asquare lattice of dielectric rodsimmersed in air. The proposeddemultiplexer has 2 channels with central wavelengths equal to=1573.7 nm and 2=1575.5 nm. The transmission efficiency ofthe demultiplexer is more than 98%.The quality factors for firstand second channels are 3934 and 5251 respectively. totalfootprint of the structure is 263.5 μm2, therefore the proposedstructure has a good potential to be used in all optical integratedcircuits and wavelength multiplexing applications.
