Abstract:

In recent decades Veterinary and Public health officials in many parts of the world have been facing, more frequent outbreaks of different subtypes of Avian Influenza viruses than before. The economic impacts of theses outbreaks have been devastating on the poultry industry in affected countries with billions of dollars burden on the economy. Although more attention has been paid to highly pathogenic viruses (H5N1, H5N8, H5N6) Low pathogenic viruses such as H9N2 which have been circulating in the poultry farms in Middle East Countries should not be ignored since, it could cause more threat to the public health. Variation in the biosecurity level between and within the countries of the region has created a very important obstacle toward the control strategies of these viruses. Political and social instability in many countries of the region are two others difficulties for establishment of nationwide strategy to control the disease. Beside many European countries which highly pathogenic avian Influenza viruses affecting more free range avian species, in the Middle East Countries these viruses are affecting more commercial poultries in the intensive units of Production. Political and geographical borders are not considered barrier for the circulating viruses to pass from one country to another. However always there are lessons to be learned from outbreaks in any countries, since the socioeconomic of ecological situation of each country are affecting control and eradication measures to be used in special situation of the country.
