Sea foods are of great importance in healthy diets around the world. Among all aquatic eatable materials, fish is the most favorable one for people. About 50 percent of fish is waste. In some countries, the fish waste is burned to produce energy. Also, some regions use the biodiesel or biogas machines to supply energy need by use of fish waste. Iran country is surrounded by several seas including Persian Gulf, Caspian Sea, and Oman sea. Besides, there are many fish farming centers in different provinces of Iran. Therefore, there is a great potential for energy production from fish waste in this country. The aim of this study is assessing the potential of fish waste for biodiesel production in Iran. To this end, the statistics of fish farming and fishing centers gathered and prioritized by simple additive weighting (SAW) technique. finally, the suitable provinces for producing biodiesel from fish waste are identified. The results show that Mazandaran is the best candidate followed by Khuzestan and Gilan.
