Abstract:
Lighting systems need dimmer to control light efficiently. Light emitting diodes (LEDs) have big part in new lighting systems. LED lamps use amplitude modulation (AM) and pulse width modulation (PWM) for dimming. Conventional LED driver use PWM method for color stability and better control. AM method is simple and more efficient. Reducing power consumption is necessary in most of electronic devices but light quality is important especially in indoor lighting and backlights. In this paper a Hybrid dimming method is used to optimize color stability and performance efficiency. Hybrid method use both AM and PWM to get better LED performance. This method improves LED driver efficiency in comparison of PWM method.
