Abstract:

Guilan Province is considered as one of the important aquaculture poles in the country. Common carp Cyprinus carpio is among delicious and the most popular fish in the area which has always been considered to fish breeders. In the present study tried to use the fishing tool and laboratory of parasitology facilities in order to estimate the species abundant of monogens inhabited on gills of this spieces. Current survey showed that monogeneans observed on gills of this fish are mainly from Dactylogyridae family and genus Dactylogyrus especially species such as D extensus, D. Onchoratus and D. vastator. The prevalence value of infection in extensus, onchoratus and vastator species were 50 percent, 37.5 percent and 12.5 percent respectively. Also mean intensity rate of infection in extensus, onchoratus and vastator were 20, 13 and 5 numbers respectively, which is average compared to other water sources. No significant statistical relation was found between the infection rate and biometric characteristics of the examined fish in the present research. Since the monogeneans have direct life cycle, do not require intermediate host to propagate and reproduce rapidly, therefore strongly suggested that the risk of introducing exotic pathogens along with importing fish or any other living organism to the country, should be assessed well in advance to protect native species and the ecosystem.
