Abstract:

Here, graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized by a modified Hummers’ method and used as support for preparation of Pt-Reduced graphene oxide (Pt-RGO) catalyst. The catalytic activity of Pt-RGO catalyst was investigated towards ethanol, isopropanol and formic acid electrooxidation through cyclic voltammetry technique. The effects of some experimental factors such as ethanol, isopropanol and formic acid concentration, electrolyte concentration and scan rate were investigated. The catalytic activity of the prepared catalyst towards ethanol, isopropanol and formic acid oxidation was measured in the optimized conditions and compared with those obtained on the glassy carbon modified by Pt/Au/Sn/C, Pt-SiO2/graphite, Pt/C, PtRu/C, and PtRuMo/C electrocatalysts.
