Abstract:
Wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of hundreds or thousands tiny devices called sensor nodes. These nodes are interconnected to each other in order to perform some special tasks. One of the main sensor nodes’ tasks is to collect data through their sensors and disseminate the sensed data to a central device. The central device is called base station (BS) or sink. While BS is fixed and has no changes in its position, nodes near the BS in multihop routing suffer large amount of network load. In order to prevent rapid energy depletion in near BS nodes called hotspot, the BS is considered mobile in some papers. Informing of BS location is one of the main challenges in these approaches. Informing sensor nodes about new location of BS impose large amount of load to the network. In this thesis a ring structure which is constructed by relay nodes is used since that just relay nodes in the ring inform about location of the BS. The ring nodes inform other sensor nodes about BS position if necessary. In order to improve WSN efficiency, in addition to ring, genetic algorithm based clustering structure is used in the proposed approach. The simulation results that the proposed method in this research provides lower energy consumption and delay
