Soil Reinforcement by Geocell

Nowadays, Geocells as one of the geosyntetics have found relatively great applications in geotechnical practice Geocell reinforcement is different from other types of soil reinforcement due to it’s induced three dimensional confinement to the infill material that prevents the soils to move horizontally leading to the increase in stiffness and shear strength of the infill material. Varieties of investigations have been made about geocell performance and its applications in geotechnical problems. These researches can be classified into two major groups, namely, numerical and experimental studies. This paper classifies the available literature on geocell based on the field of application such as pavement, foundations, etc, and reviews selected studies of each type. Researches in each fileld then divided into analytical and experimental groups and discussed separately. Some remarks are made at the end to guide investigators willing to study on geocell reinforcement
