Abstract:

Nanocomposite membranes based on sulfonated poly (ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) and Fe2TiO5 nanoparticles as filler were prepared by dispersion of Fe2TiO5 nanoparticles into SPEEK matrix with solution casting method. Influence of Fe2TiO5 nanoparticles upon the water uptake, dimensional stability and proton conductivity of nanocomposite membranes are investigated. The good proton conductivity of the membranes can be attributed to presence of Fe2TiO5 nanoparticles which can perform as pathways for proton transport. The interaction of Fe2TiO5 nanoparticles with the sulfonic acid groups of the SPEEK polymer can restrict the polymer chains as a result dimensional stability increased.
