Azo-based colorimetric chemosensor for selective detection of cyanide ions

This paper describes the design and synthesis of an azo-based colorimetric chemosensor forhighly detection of AcOˉ and CNˉ ions in aqueous acetonitrile solution. The synthesized chemosensorexhibited remarkable colorimetric responses from Orange to violet in the presence of AcOˉ and CNˉ,which could be observed by naked eyes. With the aid of the UV−vis spectrometer, the detection limitcould be as low as 3.1 μM. The probe possessed high selectivity for cyanide with respect to other commonanions. Furthermore, The mechanism of anion binding with chemosensor 2 showed one-to-onestoichiometry by Job’s plot.
