Abstract:
In this work, the gas hold-up in the airlift reactor with net draft tube was simulated and theperformances of two drag models are evaluated in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. Therange of superficial gas velocity was 0.94 -9.44 cm/s. A two-phase flow model provided by the bubbly flowapplication mode was employed in this project. In the liquid phase, the turbulence can be described usingthe k-ε model. Simulated gas holdup results were compared with experimental data obtained from theliterature. The predictions of the simulation are in good agreement with the experimental data.
