Abstract:
Wastewater treatment is one from main problems of keeping at constant level of environmentquality of human life. A principal objective of wastewater treatment is the removal of contaminants to suchdegree so that the effluents can be reused for industrial or municipal purposes. For this reason theapplication of several mutually supplementary technologies is required in wastewater treatment. Severaltreatment methods such as coagulation–flocculation, electrochemical oxidation, adsorption and membranefiltration are used to remove pollutants from wastewater. In recent years, nanomembrane technologies havebeen studied and applied in various industries. The dual membrane ultra filtration (UF)/reverse osmosis(RO) process has been used to improve the quality of reclaimed water. Compared to traditionalphysical/chemical treatment methods, membrane processes have the advantages of improving waterquality, conserving space, saving chemical dosage, reducing sludge, and selectively eliminating physical, chemical, and microbiological contaminants from wastewater. In addition, recent innovations innanomembranes have made them stronger and more resistant to variations in pH and temperature, allowingtheir use in more technological applications. In this review research, types of membranes were investigatedand their applications in wastewater treatment were discussed.
