Abstract:

This study aimed at survey the Iranian teachers’ awareness of their roles in the classroom and also the possible difference between the applicability and the practice of these roles. The independent variables studied were gender, experience, and academic qualifications. The sample of the study consisted of 60 Iranian teachers working at schools in the west of Iran. Two questionnaires were used to collect the data intransitive to answer the study questions. ANOVA, means, and standard deviations were used to analyze the data collected. The two means regarding Applicability and Practice were not meaningfully different from each other but the mean for Applicability was in some way bigger than the mean for Practice. The findings of the study also showed that Iranian teachers’ awareness of role Applicability and Practice was High . This could, also, mean that Iranian teachers of language do not practice what they think applies on them as the benefit of the in-service-training programs has not ripened yet.
