Abstract:

Given the importance of reducing energy consumption in recent years, the same has been said for ships. Today, efforts to reduce fuel consumption, prevent the emission of greenhouse gases and air pollutants, and harmonize with new laws are among the major goals facing the world s shipping industry. The purpose of this paper is to review existing ways to reduce fuel consumption on ships. Changes in design and fundamental changes in the shape of the ship s hull to improve the ship s hydrodynamics are effective in reducing resistance and fuel consumption, but the only solution is not to reduce floating resistance. In this regard, many efforts and researches have been made, including the use of new energies, the use of equipment and accessories to reduce energy consumption, and the use of new technologies in practice, such as engine rejection and machinery. Ultimately, proper energy management on the ship, the choice of navigation route due to the weather and automation can have a significant impact on reducing fuel consumption.Due to the fact that floating resistance is the most important parameter in floating fuel consumption. First, the different components of the resistor and the methods of reducing the resistance were investigated. Methods such as improving body shape, the use of air bubbles and new coatings, weight loss and improving the efficiency of the thrust system to reduce fuel consumption have also been investigated. The use of new propulsion systems and the accuracy of floating maintenance and operation are other important factors that can be mentioned and can reduce the consumption of floating fuel.
