Abstract:

Microstrip wideband bandpass filter is designed using various microstrip resonators and various empirical techniques. But the great disadvantage of the microstrip structures is the lack of a comprehensive and systematic relationship in the design process. The steps which are used to design a particular type of microstrip filter with a certain cut-off frequency, are not necessarily responsive to the design of the same type of filter with different cut-off frequency. On the other hand existence of the systematic design methods and the softwares that deliver the filter structure by entering the filter order and the response characteristics, are an important advantage to design of the LC filters. Now, if it is possible to design an LC filter for a desired response using regular methods, and then convert the LC filter to the microstrip filter, we have achieved a systematic design approach. In this article, it is tried to design an LC wideband bandpass filter using classical functions (such as Elliptic, Butterworth, Chebyshev, Hourglass, Bessel, and Gaussian) and then convert it to a microstrip filter using the proposed methods.
