Abstract:
The fiber metal laminate (FML) is composed of metal with fiber reinforced composite. They have excellent damage tolerance and impact resistance properties. The paper presents an evaluation of the low-velocity impactbehavior on FML in which hybrid composites are used. The effect of lay-up configurations and materials variations in FMLs included reinforcing hybrid carbon/ Kevlar fabric, and carbon and Kevlar fabrics separate in epoxy matrix, have been investigated. The results showed, impact resistance of FMLs reinforced with hybrid carbon/ Kevlar fabric is better than FMLs reinforced with carbon and Kevlar fabrics. Furthermore in FMLs reinforced with Kevlar andcarbon fabrics separately that Kevlar fabric layer is on composite’s upper layer, have excellent damage impact between other composites.
