Abstract:

In the present research, The B4C particles were coated with nano nickel-phosphorus layer, and they couldbe used as reinforcement for the AA356.0/(B4C@Ni) composite. The core-shell B4C@Ni composite particles were characterized by TEM. The results indicate that thickness of Ni layer is 30 nm. In this study, AA356.0/(B4C@Ni)composite were fabricated via stir casting and the influence of nano-scale Ni coating on the mechanical properties of composites was studied. The result revealed that in comparison with AA356.0/B4C (without Ni coat), the presence of Nicoat enhances tensile strength of composites. In addition, the porosity of the AA356.0/(B4C@Ni) composite samples is lower than those of the AA356.0/B4C.
