Abstract:
Optimum conditions for fabrication of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (CNT) andalumina nanocomposite have been investigated in this research. Porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) was synthesized using Oxalic acid (0.3 M) under two voltages of 40 and 60. In order to synthesize CNT/AAO nanocomposites, carbon nanotubes were grew in a chemical vapor deposition(CVD) reactor using acetylene (C2H2) and argon (Ar) as carbon source and carrier gas, respectively. In the experimental study, temperature of CVD reactor and C2H2/Ar flow ratio werechanged in the range of 550oC-750oC and 0.005-0.05, respectively. The results showed that when the temperature of CVD reactor is set to 650oC and C2H2/Ar flow ratio is equal to 0.01, vertically aligned CNTs with appropriate structures are obtained. It is also found that CNT/AAOnanocomposites fabricated in 40 (V) has tubular structure while Y-branched structured is obtained when 60 (V) is used.
