Abstract:

The effect of European architecture on Iranian architecture in previous centuries specially onGhajar era first appeared in royal and wealthy buildings, then in public buildings and afterthat in residential houses of historical buildings. Entrance of western neoclassic and generallyentrance of western architecture to Iran started from the era of Naser Aldin Ghajar whichmeans the second half of nineteenth century. Before that architecture history always hasfollowed tradition. During past times here was called eastern world and there western world;here was the region of Islam and there was the region of blasphemy, in conclusion the regionof blasphemy couldn’t be our source of inspiration. Speaking of buildings constructed inneoclassic style we can mention Mostofi al Mamalek house which was built at the end ofGhajar era in ١٣١١. These neoclassic effects all appeared in the outward appearance, plan anddecoration. In this article we evaluate the decoration and damages occurred to them.This article damage acquaintance using local and library research methods and consideringthe aesthetics of buildings in order to protect it as a permanent historical architectural markalso preserving its Iranian identity. With due attention to the effects of western neoclassicstyle, Iranian vintage styles used, although less, in this building led to a composing stylewhich is surprising to know that this style is called postal card architecture by historianswhich has a share of neoclassic architecture elements.
