Qanat (aqueduct), Iranian traditional knowledge, a way to solve water crisis

Iran is the land of secrets and surprises and one of them is Qanat (aqueduct). Although Qanat were dugin desert lands to provide required water for drinking, agriculture and animal husbandry but the mainpurpose is economic, industrial and social development. The present article is based on library studiesand uses descriptive- analysis approach to evaluate the creation of Qanat and its role in sustainabledevelopment of desert cities?Finally a collection of technical and legitimate remedies are presented to revitalize Qanat and enable itto play its historic role in sustainable development.
