Effect of training healthy life style basing on Temperament-based traditional medicine on sexual satisfaction in women’s with Type 2 diabetes: Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

Abstract:

Background and Aim : sexual satisfaction is an important factor in marital satisfaction. Sexual problemsare one of the chronic complications of diabetes and lead to sexual dissatisfaction in diabetic women. InIranian traditional medicine, temperament as an individual factor plays an important role in one s attitudesand mental states. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of healthy lifestyleeducation based on traditional medicine based on the temperaments on sexual satisfaction of women withtype 2 diabetes.Methods : This study is a clinical trial study. The statistical population of the study consisted of 30 womenwith type 2 diabetes who were randomly assigned to intervention and control groups. The researchinstrument was the female sexual function questionnaire. The intervention group was trained aboutTemperament-based traditional medicine for four 90-minute sessions in a weak. The control group passedan individual health training session in addition to routine cares. Women s sexual satisfaction was evaluatedduring three stages, before, during and after the last session and eight weeks after the intervention. The dataanalyzed in SPSS 21. The means of sexual satisfaction in both groups were compared by variance andrepeated measuresResults : There was no significant difference between demographic and socio-medical characteristics andtype of temperament between the two groups. There was no significant difference in mean score of sexualsatisfaction before and after the intervention (P = 0.2). The mean score of sexual satisfaction eight weeksafter intervention was 4.98 ±0.47 in the intervention group and 4.50 ±0/7 in the control group and thedifference was significant (P = 0.03). There were significant differences between intervention and controlgroups in score of sexual satisfaction, before, just after and eight weeks after the intervention (P = 0.003).Conclusion : Training healthy life style basing on Temperament-based traditional medicine effects onsexual satisfaction in women’s with Type 2 diabetes, desirably. As this study is the first one about the effectof Temperament-based traditional medicine on sexual satisfaction in women’s with diabetes, it isrecommended to search more in order to get certain results
