Abstract:
This paper presents a reliability analysis model for polycrystalline cadmium sulfide/cadmium telluride (CdS/CdTe) solar cell with diffraction grating and engineering layers. On the one hand, by using the diffraction grating and engineering layers, the output power is increased by about 52% compared with the conventional solar cell with similar dimensions. On the other hand, this structure shows an average of 60X improvement in time to failure than that of the similar conventional CdS/CdTe solar cell. The results indicate that the polycrystalline CdS/CdTe solar cell with diffraction grating and engineering layers seems to be the most optimal choice for converting the solar energy in high efficiency and reliability photovoltaics systems.
