Abstract:

This study aims to assess the performance of natural dolomite removingsoluble iron from wastewater. The experiments are carried out in twostages, Jartests and pilot studies. Here, the untreated dolomite iscombined with screened municipal wastewater in different dosages ofiron. Based on Jartests in low pH (pH<5), dolomite powder adsorbediron fitted to the Freundlich isotherm with maximum capacity of 3.96mg/g (0.71 mmol/gr). Regarding the pilot results with 40 liters volume,in 2 hours, dolomite adsorbed iron in low concentrations (less than 50mg/L). In higher amounts, the excess iron is oxidized and settled. CODand TSS removal are enhanced to 90%. Soluble iron is also removed tomore than 95%.
