Abstract:

In this paper a novel islanding detection method, using Full Electronic on Load Tap Changer in power Transformer (FEOLTCIPT) as an effective method is proposed. The presented method is an active method which commonly used for voltage control in industrial power systems. Thus, it has not only the negative effects on power system operation, but also improves power system quality. As the operation time of a mechanical tap changer is very long (3-10 second), so a full-electronic tap-changer is proposed in order to regulate the output voltage with high speed operation. The described algorithm overcomes all of the problems related to applying conventional methods. The different operating simulation results on a typical micro grid, including several distributed generations (DGs) verified the ability and accuracy of the method in islanding detection in comparison to the other well-known techniques.
