Abstract:

The main requirement of the Wide-Area Monitoring System (WAMS) is to acquire the real-time measurement of state variables that can be provided by phasor measurement units (PMUs). In this condition, optimizing the PMU doesn’t just depend on the number of require devices but there must be a mixture of different conditions including the balance between economical advantage and reliability; furthermore, the effects of ZIB should be considered. This paper presents a new Method in which the OPP problem has been solved using the Improved Branch & Bound (B&B) Method and this new method has been compared with ILP (Integer Linear Programming). The proposed methods are tested on IEEE-14, 30, 39, 57 buses systems and also 17, 24 buses system model.
