Abstract:

Heat exchangers have been widely used for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. The effects of cu nanofluid in presence of magnetic field in a corrugated plate heat exchanger (PHE) were investigated in this study using computational fluid dynamics. Nanofluids have received attention recently as potential fluids to increase heat transfer in simple geometries, and work to investigate nanofluids in different systems is ongoing. The enclosure has a chevron wall under constant heat flux. Two chevron angel configurations were considered for the simulation: 60 deg/60 deg, 45 deg/45 deg. The numerical investigations are performed for Cu-water nanofluid, Hartmann number and Reynolds number are examined. In addition, plain water was simulated for comparison. The results show that by increasing the angle of the chevron and Reynolds number, friction coefficient is reduced in channel plates. Hartmann also increase dimensionless, Nusselt number increases. Hartmann number increases, the temperature gradient in the wall Chevron plates will increase. This has cased increased heat transfer
