Abstract:

In reading comprehension field, several studies recently focused on the interaction between writers and readers. The very study has shown that metadiscourse elements are the most important feature in reading comprehension. This study evaluates the relative effectiveness of translation of metadisource elements on reading comprehension of academic texts by Iranian Business management students. Translation of metadiscourse elements has been seen as an input enhancement, thus suggested as a pedagogical method, in acquiring reading comprehension. In this very study Business Management students are divided in two groups, Control group and Experimental group, to measure the significant effect of translation of metadiscourse on reading comprehension skill. The results indicate that metadiscourse awareness through translation can be effective in reading comprehension, respectively the result provide useful indications for further research and also highlight the need for targeted instruction on metadiscourse in ESP reading courses
