Register Analysis in Quran

In general terms, a register is a variety associated with a particular situation of use (including particularcommunicative purposes). In linguistics, a register is a variety of a language used for a particular purpose or in aparticular social setting. This paper aims at investigating the registers in The Holly Quran. In this study, the registeranalysis is based on the analysis of the grammar and lexis of The Holly Quran. Ten surah of the Holy Quran werechosen as the sample by the purposeful sampling procedure. In this qualitative study the Holly Quran was used as theonly material and the researcher was as the instrument. The researcher analyzed the Quran’s register in terms of itsgrammar and lexis. The language of Quran is Arabic, so it is necessary to analyze the Arabic grammar which is used inthe Holly Quran. In the sample of this study, the researcher analyzed the selected surah in terms of some grammaticalstructures such noun, verb, adverb, pronoun, particle, and preposition. The Quran’s lexis is a special one due to its useof quranic initials, proper nouns and guidance for the people.
