Abstract:

Black feminism is a kind of gender studies, which discusses the situations of women of color in the racial and patriarchal western society. Patricia Hill Collins is one of the black feminist and social activist, who develops some theories of black feminism. Black Feminist Thought is her prominent idea, which consists of the analysis of the experiences of Afro-American and black women for a kind of self -definition. The Underground Railroad (2016) by Colson Whitehead is an Afro-American novel, which narrates the story of Cora, a slave woman in the 19th century racial American society. The aim of this essay is to apply the idea of Collins’ black feminist thought into the Whitehead ’s novel and support the idea of equality of all people in the western society, especially women of color as a minority group.
