Abstract:
Carbon NanoTubes (CNTs) have recently attracted great attention duo to their unique properties that make them promising alternative for copper wires in future Giga Scale Integrated (GSI) circuits. For performance analysis of CNT-based interconnects their distributed equivalent circuit model is required. Therefore, parasitic effects of an interconnect structure should be extracted to construct a SPICE compatible model. This paper reviews proposed models for CNT-based interconnects and investigate the methods and tools that can be used for parasitic extraction of CNT-based interconnects. The model accuracy is evaluated by simulation in FASTCAP 3D field solver at 14nm technology node based on ITRS predictions and comparison results in different regimes are reported.
