Abstract:
Microbial Geotechnology is a new branch of geotechnical engineering that contains the applications of microbiological methods to geotechnical engineering. These applications can improve the mechanical properties of soil to make it suitable for constructing and environmental purposes. Bio grouting in soil that leads in bio cementation and biogas generation, is the major part of Microbial Geotechnology. It can cause erosion control in coastal area, reduction the liquefaction potential of soil, enhancement the stability of slopes and dams and increment in the bearing capacity of foundations. The aim of this study is to review the effects of microbial technology on liquefaction mitigation done by researchers recently. We will discuss and analyze the applicability of these methods in this article.
