Abstract:

In recent years, with the emergence and advancement of semiconductor technology such as rectifiers, converters and switching power supplies, harmonics in micro grids have become more important. One of the reasons for increasing the use of semiconductor technology is the emergence of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power plants, where rectifiers and converters are used to change the level of voltage and rectification. The main solution to reduce the harmonic negative effects in power systems is the use of the filter. Determining the harmonic parameters including amplitude and phase of different order is a fundamental step in the design of the filter. In this study, a new method based on combination of chaotic whale optimization algorithm (CWOA) and recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm is proposed to estimate the harmonic parameters. In the proposed method, the problem of estimating harmonic parameters is divided into two nonlinear and linear sections. In the nonlinear part of the problem, the CWOA is used to estimate the phase of the original signal and the phase of different harmonics. In the linear section, using the phase values assigned to the nonlinear section and the RLS algorithm, the amplitude of the original signal and different harmonics will be determined. In this study, the power signal was tested with the third, fifth, seventh and eleventh harmonic orders and with different signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The proposed method is tested on a voltage signal sampled from a micro grid, including wind power plant and solar power plant, and the results showed that the proposed method has excellent accuracy in the harmonic unknown parameters estimation.
