Electrocatalytic performance of Pt-LaFeO3 nanocatalysts supported on reduced graphene oxide for 2-propanol electrooxidation

Abstract:
Here, LaFeO3 was synthesized through a sol gel method and characterized with X-ray diffraction technique. Reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was prepared and used as a support for nanoparticles to get Pt-LaFeO3/RGO nanocomposite. The morphology and distribution of Pt-LaFeO3 nanocomposites were characterized by transmission electron microscopy image. The electrocatalytic activity of Pt-LaFeO3/RGO nanocomposite was investigated for 2-propanol electrooxidation by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry techniques. The effects of some experimental factors were investigated for 2-propanol electrooxidation on the prepared nanocomposite and the optimum conditions were suggested. Pt-LaFeO3/RGO nanocomposite showed higher catalytic activities than Pt/RGO for 2-propanol electrooxidation indicating that Pt-LaFeO3/RGO could be a promising catalyst for 2-propanol electrooxidation.
