Abstract:

Studied traits were body weight at first day (BW1), body weight at eight weeks (BW8), age at sexual maturity (ASM), egg number production (EGP) involving three generations 17,18 and 19 during the years 2010 to 2012. Genetic parameters were estimated with Bayesian approach using MTGSAM Software. Estimations of direct additive heritabilities for BW1, BW8, ASM and EGP by best models using Bayesian method were estimated 0.36, 0.33, 0.48 and 0.26 respectively. Bayesian approach, where the prior distribution is considered as a mathematical representation of our prior knowledge, therefore, recommended the use of Bayesian methods to estimate genetic parameters on the Fars Native fowls traits.
