Review of sexual satisfaction in woman with type 2 diabetes

Background and Objective: The number of patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high-risk women for developing type 2 diabetes are increasing. Considering theimportance of sexual satisfaction in the family bonding and mental health of women, this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between type 2 diabetes andsexual satisfaction and also provide solutions for improving their quality of sexual life. Search method: literature search was performed in Google Scholar, PubMed and SIDdatabases using the keywords type 2 diabetes , sexual satisfaction and quality of sexual life in order to identify studies investigating sexual satisfaction in womenwith type 2 diabetes. No restrictions were considered.8 studies were included in this review. Findings: According to the results of this study, sexual satisfaction and consequently the quality of sexual life in women with type 2 diabetes have significantly decreased in comparison with before their illness, as well as those who have not suffered from this chronic disease. Sexual disability in the affected group was reported more often, and the general score of the patients in the sexual desire, irritability, and moisture of the vagina was lower in the patients group. In pregnancy, sexual function was undesirable in women, but there was no significant difference between sexualsatisfactions with non-diabetic pregnant women. Conclusion: assessment of sexual health in the patients are often neglected in care providing. According to The negative effects of type 2 diabetes on quality of sexual life, planning for prevention and treatment of sexual problems, and further studies to explore the relationship between early diagnosis and treatment and these complications are needed.
