Investigation of the unhealthy ways of modern lifestyle on symptoms of asthma

Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Asthma is a chronic disease characterized by recurrent attacks of breathlessness and wheezing. Asthma, involving 5-10% of the globalpopulation. The prevalence of Asthma in Iran is 4.56% among men and 4.17% among women. Epidemiological studies have shown several associations between asthma symptoms and a modern lifestyle. Today s unhealthy lifestyle, which is considered one of the most important public health problems, has had a significant impact on the progression of asthmatic symptoms. In this article, our goal is to investigate the unhealthy style of modern life and the impact on asthma symptoms. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this article, a review methodology was used. PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus and Cochrane library, databases were searched for relevant articles. Our search was done without a time limit. The main terms analyzed were Asthma symptom, Life Style, modern Life, Unhealthy Life, and Asthma. FINDINGS: According to study 14 articles, research shows an association between the rise of asthma disease and modern lifestyle which are characterized by increased obesity, stress, exposure to environmental pollutants and unhealthy diets. In addition to that, urbanization due to modern life can worsen the symptoms of asthma. Besides that, in some articles, theconsequence of unhealthy lifestyles on increasing infections, chronic diseases, and inflammation has been addressed. CONCLUSION: The results show that the unhealthy ways of lifestyle are associated with increased the incidence of asthma symptoms, can decrease the quality of life and can lead to huge costs for the health care system in several countries. Thus, interventions should be taken to prevent the early onset of asthma disease.
