Abstract:

Soil stabilization is the alteration of one or more soil properties, by mechanical or chemical means, to create an improved soil material possessing the desired engineering properties. Thus, fibre-reinforced soils have recently attracted increasing attention in geotechnical engineering. So, this paper is going to introduce and investigate a novel method for the reinforcement of soil samples. In this way, the composite soils were prepared through the addition of fibres by the injection of lime-water. Polypropylene Fibres (PP) and Recycled Waste Tire Cords (RWTC), an environmental problem, were selected. Consequently, the unconfined compressive test was employed to investigate the compressive behaviour and ultimate-compressive strength of different reinforced-soil samples. So, the effects of lime-water, fibre content, fibre length and fibre type were evaluated
