Abstract:

Introduction & Aim: Breast cancer is the most common of cancer among women in world. Its prevalenceis increasing in Iran and so that age of Catching has decreased in Iran than to Western countries. The aim of this study was to compare risk factors of breast cancer in young women to elderly women. Methods: In this descriptive study, were carried out on 170 women with breast cancer in therapeutical educational centers in Rasht in 2012. In this study, women were placed in the age group under 50 years (83patients) and 50 years and older (n = 87). Data were collected using researcher-made questionnaire of demographic and risk factors. Data were analyzed using software SPSS16 and descriptive and analytical statistics Results: In this study, 48.8 perecent of women were under age 50 years and 51.2 percent of women older (range 28-82 years). The results showed that in elderly women were more than history of pregnancy and the number thoses and age at first pregnancy were lower than young women. While the history and age of menopause and duration of oral contraceptives use and abortion in older women were more than younger women. Two groups were statistically significant differences together in terms of marital p<0.005, the living conditions p<0.0001, education p<0.0001, parity p<0.0001, menopause p<0.0001, age of menopause, p<0.0001, pregnancy history, p<0.02 and abortion p<0.005 . Conclusion: Based on the study findings, it appears that some factors, such as history and number of pregnancies and age at first live birth in young people and some factors, such as abortion, menopause and oral contraceptives use due to aging in older women are important risk factors. Accordingly Attention to these factors and the early detection of breast cancer is recommended in women of both age groups
