Abstract:

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. Several studies in recent years reported that mutations and Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in miRNAs are associated with the risk of various cancers. Methods: This study was performed on 267 breast cancer patients, 156 patients without recurrence of breast cancer and 111 patients with relapsing disease. After DNA extraction, genotyping was done using Tetra ARMS PCR technique. Statistical analysis of data was done using logistic regression model. Results: The results were shown that there was no significant association between mir-146a rs2910164 polymorphism with the breast cancer recurrence. Conclusions: The present study is a first study to investigate association between mir-146a rs2910164 gene polymorphism and breast cancer recurrence. Based on the results of this study, it seems that the microRNA-146a rs2910164 polymorphism does not interfere with the pathogenesis of breast cancer recurrence.
