Abstract:

Introduction&Aim:Breast cancer is the most common diagnostic cancer among women around the world. More reports on breast cancer suggest that early diagnosis is important for improving clinical outcomes and overall survival in patients with breast cancer. In this context we investigated the expression of a cancer testis antigen ( AKAP4 ) and a tumor suppressor gene(GBP2) in breast cancer. Methods: To evaluate the expression of AKAP4 and GBP2genes،comparative Real Time RT-PCR by SYBR green dye was used at the presence of beta-actin housekeeping gene as internal control. The expression of these two genes was assessed in 120 blood and tumor breast tissues in comparison with normal controls. Results: In this study we aimed to investigate the presence of AKAP4 and GBP2 gene expression in breast cancer tumor tissues compared with normal adjacent tissues that could be considered as possible biomarkers for breast cancer diagnosis even at the early stages. Conclusion: AKAP4 and GBP2 gene expression analysis in tissue could be considered as possible early diagnostic biomarkers in breast cancer that is an urgent need for better management of cancer.
