Similarity Points of Iranian Architecture Designs and Symbols of Persian Carpet

Architecture and carpet weaving are two wings of Iran s art flight. What is seen in architecture in the form of decorations and creativity of the artful architect in every nook and cranny of Iranian mansions is depicted in carpet by rich and various designs and colors. Persian carpet is a mirror of our culture and identity. The purpose of this research is studying carpet designs and their function in architecture of contemporary mansions. This study was conducted based on data collection using descriptive analytical method of research and library document. The results show that by studying Iranian architecture and also designs used in Persian carpet, a new variant of visual thinking can be found which is in close relationship with Iranian culture and identity. If this thinking can be applied smartly in contemporary mansions, it can depict co-existence of identity and understanding borders of architecture and intellectual and historical structures of the past in the new reflection of human aspirations.
