Abstract:

Introduction and Objectives: Pasteurellosis is an infectious, contagious, Zoonosis disease that causes skin and genital complications in human. This disease also effects animals such as camel, cattle, buffalo, wild ruminants, sheep, and goat. The agent of the disease is Pasteurella multocida which is the natural flora in mammalian oropharyngeal cavity. In animals the disease occurs in two acute and pulmonary forms and is accompanied by the symptoms such as high fever, cough, excessive salivation, diarrhea, blood diarrhea, pericarditis, pneumonia and painful swollen area of the scapula, neck, throat, chest and abdomen. The transmission of the disease is usually carried out by the respiratory and oral routes. Climate changes, stress, transportation, unnecessary transport of animals, nonconformity of quarantine rules and use of the immunosuppressive drugs are the factors affecting the prevalence of Pasteurellosis in livestock. In this research, we have tried to investigate the relationship between the epidemiology of animal Pasteurellosis and the occurrence of sand storms and dust in Bam city.Materials and Methods: In this applied-correlation study, after collecting library resources, climatic data including wind speed, sunny hours, relative humidity, rainfall and air temperature were gathered from synoptic station of Bam for the period of 2010- 2014 and the data related to animal Pasteurellosis were collected from the veterinary department of Bam city during the107specified period. In the final stage, the statistics obtained by SPSS and EXCEL software‟s were analyzed.Result: The most prevalence of the disease occurred in the months of June and July. Studying climatic parameters shows that there is a correlation between wind speed and infection rate, and also shows a direct relation between sunny hours and the prevalence of the disease. Conclusion: Bam city is one of the areas where the prevalence of Pasteurellosis is high among the livestock due to the seasonal sand storms and Climatological parameters including wind speed and sunny hours are involved in its prevalence.
