Abstract:

Introduction: Tuberculosis is one of the most common and deadly infectious diseases. Due to the impact of biological, behavioral, socio-economic factors on the incidence of tuberculosis and the risks of the disease, we decided to investigate the factors affecting tuberculosis, better identify and increase knowledge about planning and policy by identifying risk factors that are more frequent in tuberculosis patients in Semnan. Methods: All patients with confirmed tuberculosis, who were registered in health centers in Semnan for the period from 2012 to 2016, were referred for drug preparation and were included in this study. All of them were selected and information was obtained from the office of TB. Clinical records were collected from Health Centers, questionnaires and in-person interviews. The questionnaire consisted of two parts: the first part was about personal characteristics and the second part was related to the risk factors for tuberculosis. Results: The index of congestion was 1.86 ± 0.88 in the room. Most of the elderly (≥ 60 years old) (48.1%), female (59.7%), housewife (48.1%), had a pre-diploma education (63.6%), low monthly income ( 62.3%) and married (63.6%). 13.0% had diabetes. 20.8%, drug abuser, 16.9%, cigarettes and tobacco and 1.3% consumed alcoholic beverages. 40.3% were Afghans and 3.1% Pakistani. Conclusion: Considering the increasing number of people with tuberculosis in Iran, especially in Semnan and increasing the mortality rate due to this disease, recognizing the factors that cause this disease, especially environmental and demographic factors, will be of great help in controlling and managing this disease.
