Abstract:

Heck‐type reactions are powerful tools for the creation of new C–C bond via reaction of aryl/vinyl halides and activated alkenesin the presence of a base. These reactions are typically catalyzed by Pd [1]. From an economical point of view, using low‐costtransition metals instate of Pd is useful. In 2008, Evano and co‐workers studied on Cu‐catalyzed coupling reactions and theirapplications in natural products and designed biomolecules synthesis [2, 3].In this project, decoration of copper nanoparticles on the surface of Fe3O4 microparticles (Fe3O4@Cu) was reported. TheFe3O4@Cu was prepared by reaction of magnetite and copper acetate and reduction with hydrazine hydrate [4]. Prepared compoundcharacterized by SEM, Mapping and EDX analysis. The catalytic performance of Fe3O4@Cu in Heck reaction was examined via reaction between 2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde and 4-chloroaniline as aryl halides and acrylic acid, methacrylic acid and vinyl acetate in the presence of a K2CO3. High catalytic activity, simple recovery by using an external magnet, and several reused without loss of activity are additional performance of this catalyst.
