Abstract:
Magnetic (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were used as a core for silver nanoparticle functionalized cellulose shell to provide a core-shell like mixed hybrid polymer (Fe3O4/cell-AgNPs). A simple, environmentally friendly, inexpensive, green and efficient procedure for the synthesis of Fe3O4/cell-AgNPs nanostructure were found. This recoverable nanocomposite has been described in which the Ag NPs have synergic effect for antibacterial studies during composition in comparison with pure AgNO3. The resulting nanocomposites not only showed excellent catalytic performance and stability for the reduction of para-nitrophenol in the presence of NaBH4, but also exhibited strong antibacterial activity with respect to E. coli. More significantly, the composite particles can be exploited in different application and their subsequent removal by means of an external magnetic field.
