Abstract:
In this paper, standard steel profiles have been used to reinforce and rectify mechanical behavior of CFT columns under the Eccentric and Semi-Earthquake Loading Conditions which were named SR-CFT columns. Primarily FEM procedure had been verified with some available experimental studies and then a total of four composite columns with different section type were analyzed. The base model was CFT column and used as benchmark specimen. However other specimens were SR-CFT columns. The conclusions of analyses indicate reinforcement of CFT columns by this method that lead to enhancement in load carrying capacity, enhancement in lateral drift ratio and ductility, preventing of local buckling in steel shell and enhancement in energy dissipation under cyclic loading conditions.
