One of the modern approaches to the seismic upgrading of structures is using a metallic damper, which because of its great advantages over other energy absorbing devices, is suitable for retrofitting steel framed structures. So in this study, the performance of frame with metallic triangular plate damper and its structural response to earthquake before and after retrofitting with this type of damper is evaluated. For this purpose three steel moment frames with 5, 10 and 15 stories were selected and for increasing accuracy in nonlinear static analysis and determination the performance point and target displacement of studied three-dimensional frames, the SAP2000 program was used. Also the parameters that influence the behavior and performance of structures in an earthquake were determined. Comparing the obtained values shows that in the strengthened structure lower roof displacement occurs; stiffness, strength and ability of absorbing input energy increase.
