Abstract:

Okra is warm season plant which is grow well under different soils but it prefers rich soils with good drainage and propagated by seeds. Okra is mainly planted for its immature fresh and tasty pods. Time from blossom to fruit set and formation of okra pods are very short and usually it takes one or two days. Its fruits are grown very fast and tents to produce seeds. Okra seed is known as new source of herbal oil. Therefore, mechanization of this valuable plant will significantly help farmers to expand its cultivation area. The objective of this study was to explore challenges towards of mechanization of okra farms. Our results of two years of farming practice showed that, plantation of okra is easy and simple job while fruit or seed harvest is difficult and challenging process. Most of the costs in okra production is for human labor because of lack of suitable fruit or seed harvesters
